Boyfriends and relationships

So last week I finally told the boy I really like that I like him and we talked for a little bit afterwards we are friends now because he thinks he is in a relationship already but he said its complicated,

Did I do the right thing by telling him? My family doesn't really like him so if we do start a relationship I don't know what to do or what to say to my family they think I hate him cause they always tease me about liking he, and the more and more they teased me the more I think about him and like him so yeah that's my life at the moment... #complicatedandcrappy
