strip membranes without telling you?

Can your doctor strip your membranes without telling you ? Today I had 40 week appointment I talked to doctor last week about induction and she knows how badly I want to deliver asap well today she checked my cervix but this time it felt different like she was digging in there I felt a pain squirmed and made a noise she said sorry but didn't think anything of it till I got home and now I'm feeling super crampy and I figured it's from her probing my cervix and made me wonder did she try to stir things up in there to help me along and not tell me?
