You should be able to see and hear the heartbeat with a vaginal ultrasound by 8 weeks. Did you see it and just not hear it? Usually they are able to hear it vaginally around 6.5-7 weeks.

You'll normally hear it around 9-10 weeks.

It depends if there was no heartbeat heard, or no heartbeat seen at all. It's a little early to hear the heartbeat but if it were able to be measured you should be fine.
