Distance💔

So me and my boyfriend have liked each other since I was 14 and he was 16 but never could date because he moved around a lot. Well now 3 years later he moved right down the road from me and we started a relationship. Well the other night we where cuddling about to have sex (our first time having sex in the relationship) and he was like ya know I got an amazing job offer but the only thing is I'm gonna be 3 states away for 4 months and 2 states away for 4 months without coming home and I just don't know if we would be able to make it 8 months without seeing each other and we are just now starting off. Well we had sex and started talking and he was like I don't want you to be here upset with me gone and we can't see each other. I broke down and cried on his chest for an hour and basically told him I would wait however long for you. I just got you and now I'm losing you again. I got up and left and since that night 2 days ago we have barely talked. What should I do? Should I just give up?... help me...💔😔
