Delivering a Big Baby Vaginally?!

Question

Wondering if any women can share their stories about whether they were able to give birth vaginally or if they had to get a C Section if their baby was measuring big? Our son is measuring 7lbs @ 35.1 weeks. I have not gained a lot of weight nor do I have gestational diabetes - just a big baby! I have slender hips too, so I'm concerned... Any experiences / stories / advice would be awesome!

I gave birth to my son who was 10lb 3oz no problems. This one is also measuring big and im not worried about delivering him vaginally. You got this mumma! Just a tip IF baby does get stuck instead of first option being a c section or other intervention the best thing to do is get in to the hands and knees position this position can get baby out with no injury to it or you. My son was 9 lbs 10oz and got stuck. I had a 4 degree tear and I will need surgery one day to repair the damage. My daughter is coming csection next Thursday. Not risking that again although I did try. I didn't have diabetes with my son. I do with my daughter.

I will tell you that I am happy I had him vaginally despite the pain the risk and the surgery needed to repair. His health and safety always came first and I have one hell of a story. But I did push for natural with her but with the diabetes the doctors won't let me and I am now perfectly fine with it. I just want a healthy baby and she is big too. Not measuring as big as my son was but still I can't risk more dmaage. My specialist told me that I shouldn't have a natural birth to avoid risking more damage to my bum. It tore and now I have to have all the muscles repaired. Sucks being so young and living with it. But my son was worth it.

Your body is made for this! Just listen to your body, don't fight what it does. If you go in with a negative outlook you will have a negative outcome. Women are superheroes! We literally create and give life. Prepare yourself for birth by researching techniques to deal with pain if you are choosing natural. If you're choosing an epidural then I wouldn't stress over it, the doctor and nurses will assist you in pushing that baby out. Good luck!

My husband was 10 pounds, 2 ounces and was delivered at 38 weeks naturally. Since he was so big, they induced his mama early. Times have definitely changed, but they could induce you early too depending on how much bigger he gets. Then I was born at 35 weeks and I was 7 pounds, 6 ounces - also naturally. Your body can handle this even though it seems a little scary :)

My son was only supposed to be 7 pounds...Yeah right! Lol I got induced at 41 weeks. 24 hours of labor and 4 hours of pushing and he came out at 10 pounds. Good news is I didn't tear or anything! Lol 😂

My son was 8.9lbs. not huge but not a small baby either. I pushed for 3 hrs and the doctor had to use the vacuum because I was exhausted and couldn't push anymore. He also had a big head so I tore but all in all my body knew exactly what to do.  he is here healthy and happy and now a big almost 6 year old. It's amazing what your body is created to do. As long as you don't fight your instinct and urges your baby will come out just fine. :)

My son was 9lb- I was induced at 39 weeks- I was closed and 75% effaced- they did cervidil and pitocin and I received an epidural- once it was time to push- my body was READY- I felt like I was holding him in. Only took 3 pushes to get him out! I tore pretty badly but they stitched me up good as new!

Remember that that measurement is an estimate too. Mine was 9.8 and I had him med free vaginally. My second is set to probably be bigger but I did it once I could again ;-). Start pressing down on the perineum  or rather the outer rim of the vagina closest to the anus...it can help start stretching it out to try and prevent tears

My oldest son was born at 36 weeks weighing 8lbs 11 ozs.  I had him naturally without any medication.  My labor was 29 hours total and 4 of those hours pushing.  I thank God that I didn't get an epidural as I would have probably gotten a c-section.  He was not moving down much with my pushes so I had to get on all fours and push, it worked.  I did tear some (can't remember how many stitches - 20 years ago) but he was fine and so worth it.  I cannot imagine how big he would have been if I carried him full-term.

I had an 8.10 and 21 1/2 inch baby vaginally not huge but he was a healthy size with no problems.
