How many oz?

My baby is 3 weeks and 1 day today. I'm thinking of giving him 4 oz. Currently he drinks 3 1/2 oz. I saw a chart online saying if you multiply by how many lbs your baby weighs x by 2.5 meaning my baby should be eating 25 oz per day. I don't get it. Can someone explain this to me??

I just feed on demand. 4-6oz at a time. My little guy is 5 weeks 6 days.

If you wanted to go by that chart, I would do the math like this, if it says baby should have 25 oz a day, split that in half (day and night) then split that into so many feedings per day, and try it. It all depends on baby, some babies eat more oz at a time with longer times between feedings where some eat less oz more frequently, but roughly getting the same amt... I just go by when baby is full. Mine is almost 3 weeks old, she was just starting to drink 3oz every time, but then my milk dried up and it took 3 days to get any supply coming in again, and now she eats 1oz every 1-2 hours... so use what they say in moderation....

Every baby is differnt. It's hard but try not to worry too much. My son is 6 weeks and 11lbs and he only eats around 20 oz a day. He has gained almost 3 lbs since birth and has plenty of wet diapers a day.

Breastmilk or formula? I breastfeed and when it's in the bottle he'll take what he needs. At 3 weeks it was 2-3 ounces then he was done. As his tummy got bigger he was up to 4-5. Bear in mind their stomachs aren't that big.

By that formula, and assuming you're feeding him 8 x per day, he'd be getting 28  ounces a day. Depends on how often he gets a bottle.

If he keeps it down I think it's okay. But my son is almost 2 weeks and still between 2 and 3 ounces accept her cluster feeds at night wich is normal. She said don't rush to give him 4 before he turns a month because most babies spit it all up.
