Will he have rights?

My ex doesn't really want to be part of ours child's life. If he's not included on the birth certificate does he have any rights.I just want to make sure that later on he can't try to take the child or anything of the sort.

To stop him from changing his mind in the future just have him sign away his rights.

Yes he does. It doesn't matter if he is on the BC  or not. He can go to the court and ask for visitation. The court will do a paternity test, and some states add father on BC  after that's done. And of course they make him pay child support. It's very rare they take custody away from mother, you'll have to be proven unfit. But it's really up to him on what route he wants to take.

If he changes his mind and make attempts for visitation or partial custody would you keep him away? If he's not a terrible person and would be a safe and caring parent in the future, by the time your child is Atleast old enough to know the absence would you still want your child not see it's dad?  My kids don't see their dad but they certainly have their issues and sometimes they don't understand why and even blame me. It's heartbreaking.
