IUD birth control

I'm getting an IUD on Wednesday and I'm still torn about which one is best. I want to avoid the hormones because they make me crazy so my inclination is the Paragard but my dr told me it can increase cramping and bleeding during menstruation (which are already kinda heavy). But then the Mirena (low hormone) can make me stop having periods altogether. And I worry that id panic every time I had sex that I was pregnant because I wouldn't be having a period...please comment which you use. Why you like it. Or if you had a bad experience what happened.
