HELP? Is my babies circumcision getting infected?

I noticed a small amount of yellowish discharge on the tip of my babies penis last night. It's still really red too. I'm going to the pediatrician as soon as she comes back from Christmas. Just wondering if I should go ahead and take him to the hospital. He was born Dec 21st and circumcised the 22nd. Is the discharge part of the healing process? We've been putting Vaseline on with every change and wiping around the area with a baby wipe but not wiping the penis itself with the wipes. I've been rinsing it with warm water and gently patting it dry every few changes too. He only seems bothered by it after he pees. As soon as the diaper change is done and I pick him up he's usually ok.

No yellow ring around it means it's healing right!!! You're fine! I was told to look for it and do not pick it off!!! It's all good.

Ok so this apparently is very rare but my son got the plastibell type circumcision and they said not to do anything to it while it healed. They said it will probably look like something is wrong at some point, but don't worry because its probably fine.. The plastibell will slide off. So a week or so went by and my lil guy cried every time we changed his diaper, I thought he just didn't like his diaper changed!  He was peeing fine and didn't seem to be swollen, but the plastibell was still on and was going down instead of off. Then after 2 weeks it was still on. Luckily we had his 2 week appt. His dr. took a look at it and at that point it had gotten a bit swollen. She sent us to the children's hospital emergency room right then. Scariest thing ever for new parents! After a few hours of inspection and 2nd, 3rd, and more opinions, the plastibell was removed with cutters like the kind they use to take rings off fingers that have become too swollen. It was super scary at the time but he healed just fine and is totally normal now. Not sure if this helps at all but thought I would share!

Thanks guys! He's due for his first Dr. visit around anyway. I'm taking him in a little early just to to he safe. He's starting to seem like it is sensitive. Like he starts screaming after he pees. And it's just as red as when they did the surgery. I just feel like it's not healing right. Really hope I'm just paranoid!

Are you putting vaseline over the tip? I noticed when my son was moving when we put the gauze on that he was moving and it was getting over his head and it was hurting him. Maybe check that? Good luck I hated changing him since he hurt so much, my SO wanted him circumcised.
