The Dominican Republic for a vacation?

I want to plan a trip for hubby and I for our 4 year anniversary and was thinking of going to the Dominican Republic . Have any of you ladies been ? If so how was it!

DR was beautiful (Punta Cana). I went there last year but I hated the resort and the people were so pushy there trying to get us to buy things even to the point of putting their arms around you and pulling you over to the table they were selling things from. They are rude and don't take no for an answer it just really ruined it for me because they whole time I felt like I was trying to avoid walking certain places to stay away from them 😡

Also unlike other resorts I've been to they really don't speak any English so if you are decent with Spanish you will be fine otherwise I would pick somewhere else. I knew enough to get my point across but other places I've been to were not like this (Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica) and the workers spoke decent English there.

My husband is dominican so for our honeymoon we went to The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real it was beautiful !!

My ex is from Haiti he says he whole island is actually beautiful and he wants to go back some times as a tourist
