Anyone covered by Aetna, Cigna, or Blue Shield? First time giving birth need a recommendation!

Anyone have Aetna, Blueshield, or Cigna? What did birthing costs look like or costs for prenatal visits? We are going to call each and talk about options but I would love to hear from people who have experience with them.

I know Aetna sucks.  I had it, hated it!  We had BCBS and didn't have any issues with them at all.  They got me my breast pump and everything went really easy.

Sometimes it depends on what level of coverage you choose. I've had Aetna and Cigna, now I'm on bcbs. Cigna was the worst by far and the coverage was actually good. They just required paper work constantly and would constantly change what they would cover and what they wouldn't. I've only had bcbs for a short time but we are going thru it privately so the coverage isn't nearly as good as when I worked for a big corporation.

I have blue cross blue shield. In 2017, my out of pocket maximum is $400... sooo that's the most I'll spend on prenatal appointments and delivery (which isn't bad at all.) I MAY switch to my husbands insurance (which is amazing), but we aren't sure yet if they'll cover me since I'm pregnant already.

I've had Blue Cross Blue Shield nearly my entire life. In my state, they have an optional prenatal plus program. Today I spoke with a wonderful lady who asked me about my pregnant and gave me some tips. She will continue to call and check on me every couple months and I can call her whenever I need. She will answer pregnancy questions as well as insurance questions.

I have BCBS and I had a one time fee of $30 for my first prenatal visit because it was a diagnostic visit and I will pay $175 for the hospital.

Switching to Blue Shield on 1/1/17. I'm due March 1, & I will have the Platinum Plan-- more expensive monthly obviously but NO DEDUCTIBLE so it'll pay for itself with birth costs!!

I have Aetna & pay copays but I get reimbursed every month. They are also covering my breast pump.

I have BCBS.  I didn't pay anything during prenatal visits and payed around $1k for birthing expenses I believe.  That was the only expense I really had to pay for.

I have BCBS PPO, I paid $20 co-pay for doctor visits. Haven't paid anything from my c-section and baby's hospital bill.

Every insurance company has different levels if coverage, based on the monthly premium you are willing to pay.  It also makes a difference if you get independent insurance or are part of a group plan.
