help?

Question

So we got our baby boys crib ready yesterday. But our cats seem to think it was made for them... how can I get them out of this habit? And I'm not getting rid of them. So please don't even suggest that. I'm only gonna get rid of them if that's our last resort.

Oh heck no way would you get rid of em! My sisters cat loves their baby stuff but she just has to ban him from the room haha. Some people swear by putting tin foil over the crib and changing pad and stuff. Cats tend to HATE the Feeling and will avoid it. Well be putting an interior screen door (with a regular one) on our nursery to let us see and hear inside but to keep out our fur babies

I put tin foil in baby's crib from the day I set it up, and the first time my cat jumped in it, it freaked him out so bad he hasn't gone back in since.

Also, we have been closing the nursery door every night around "baby bedtime" (8-9 pm) to get kitty used to the fact that he will not be able to go in there at night (don't want him meowing at the door waking baby up once baby is here).

We let ours check it out- after about 3 days they got tired of it and don't bother with it. 
If that doesn't work you can try double sided tape on the railing, or one of the tapes they make that deter cats.  I've seen people put a fitted sheet over the crib (also works on pack n plays).
If you Google "Jackson galaxy" and tips for introducing cats to babies that might give you some help.
We're keeping the door closed if the baby is in there on his own, but by the time he moves from the bassinet to the crib he may be big enough for us not to worry about the cats (if he's rolling over and that kind of thing).  We're taking that as it comes though.

We just keep the door closed but we forget sometimes and she gets in his room. She's getting old and kind of fat, so she can't jump into the crib easily. It's too much work for her so she hadn't gotten in it yet. I still don't like her in there though, she had some peeing issues near the end of my pregnancy that lasted until shortly after birth. I had to get her meds from the vet for stress/anxiety. 
I've heard others say to put foil down, they don't like the sound of it.

I have heard of people installing a screen door on the nursery or whatever bedroom the babies and for such reasons to keep parent's out because they can typically crawl through / over a baby gate

Well me and my bf are expecting and we've already decided the cats won't be allowed in our shared master bedroom/ nursery so maybe just keep the door closed. Also when me and my bf had issues with the cats peeing (believe it or not one of the cats began to pee in our bed regularly when I began sleeping over regularly we used natures miracle pet stain and odor removal and the cat hated the smell! Funnily enough it smells Wonderful and is safe to use around children. 💕

The only way I know of, since baby gates only deter dogs, is to keep them out of the room. It's hard to "train" them that they can't go in there, you just have to keep them out of the room somehow.
