24th November late birth story! 23 hours..🙈
Late birth story- 24th November.
I was due on November 12th and was booked to be induced on the 22nd.
I went into labour in the hospital at 1am on the 23rd, just missing the need to be induced.
I dilated very quickly to 5cm by 6am...contractions getting stronger but bareable I thought I was rocking this natural labour malarchy!
Boy was I wrong..
I got sent down to the labour ward and ideally I wanted a water birth but the midwife couldn't find babies heartbeat for more than I minute so I was advised not to go in the pool.
Feeling lost and frustrated I was advised to climb on the bed and lean over the top, this is where I stayed for 14 hours! Only then moving to 8cm and staying at 8cm along with involuntary pushing for another few hours.
With no pain relief or sleep I was distraught when the midwives told me I hadn't dilated further and I asked for an epidural. It was the best decision I could have made.
Over the next few hours I was ready for pushing but baby wasn't coming further down, little did the midwives know it was because baby was 9lb 4! Not anticipated at all!
I got moved to theatre and prepped for a C-section or forceps to help little one make his way into the world.
Luckily he was in a position to be assisted via forceps and after 23 hours of labour little Reuban the 9lb 4 surprise was finally here!!
Birth personally for me was an awful experience but worth every push and cry ❤
