anyone's babies have a colostomy bag?

My little Teddy is 6 months and having a colostomy bag (stoma bag) fitted January. I'm absolutely petrified and want to know the cons as well as pros. As the consultants always leave the negative parts out... thank you if you comment!

My baby had one put on when he was 3 days old it was hard at first I was scared to hurt him and all of that but fortunately they taught us how to take care of him and said he was a normal baby.First time we changed his bag ourselves it was hard really but now it's easy for us in that way cause ya know it hurts to see your son like that but it was to save his life and I feel blessed that he is here with us.It is hard with the bag cause well they're babies they move a lot and we have to change his bag constantly but it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it don't worry.

Hello. I'm sorry to read about your baby boy. How is he doing?  I have a 8 week old baby girl that was born with Cloacal Exstrophy. She is currently wearing a colostomy bag and still has her bladder on the outside of her. She had her 1st operation when she was a week old. Doctors are planning to do her 2nd operation between 6 - 18 months to hopefully see if her bowel works and to put her bladder on the inside. This is so scary. 
Have you cope with this?  Did you find a supportive group were parents are going through the same thing?

What exactly is wrong with his bowel? My daughter was born with many health problems, heart defect organs in wrong place, needed feeding tube for three n half years 11 surgeries, 5 open heart, heart has stopped twice, living in heart failure currently, she is 8 first surgery was when few hours old....her intestines and bowel where twisted when born basically so they had to do a procedure to put them where they belonged. I know a colostomy bag is a bit different then feeding tube, but you do just learn how to live with it, to him it will just be normal life and soon it will become routine for you and will get easier. I wish him all the best of luck.

Aww why does he need one? I have Crohn's disease and they wanted one for me when I was 7 years old but my parents refused the surgery. They aren't all bad and has given life back to many people.

Awww bless him he's absolutely gorgeous. I lost my son October just gone he was stillborn at 36weeks. My only suggestion would be to research a group online of other mums that have gone through this. Places like Facebook they have some good group help pages or mums net xx
