any ideas of how to get baby back to sleep after 4:30 a.m. feeding?

My LO goes to sleep at around 10 p.m. and when he wakes up around 4:30 a.m. to eat and everything it's hard almost impossible to get him to go back to sleep! I keep the room dim and don't make any loud noises, pretty much anything and everything to not wake him up. After I feed him he goes back to sleep in my arms and the moment I start putting him down to go back to bed he gets wide eyed and just stays awake for and hour or so... any ideas?

Just put baby down awake. If he cries soothe baby then repeat but always put baby down awake. They get used to it. My little one talks to herself for about 20 mins after a bottle then drifts off. She doesn't wake anymore either. She now sleeps 8pm till 930 am. She's realised she's not hungry and no one plays during the night so no point waking up.

Mine is the same way. After 4am it's hit or miss. He sleeps from 9/10 to 1/2 then up around 4 and after that it's a blur every night. It actually has been getting worse. Last night he wouldn't go back to sleep after 2. I can't figure it out. He's won't even take a bottle so he's not hungry.

I nurse laying down ad he goes straight back to sleep but we bed share some days when I need extra sleep

Does he cry when you put him down? My son usually wakes up but I just walk away. Most of the time he goes to sleep on his own without a fuss. If he's not crying just leave him be. It's good practice for them to fall asleep on their own.

My baby sleeps from 9.30 pm and wakes up at 3.30 am to feed, he does the same thing sometimes. He falls asleep in my arms and adter laying him down he wakes up, maximum time it's because he is still hungry, so i feed him again and burp him after which he doesn't wake up until 6.30 am

Maybe wait longer to set him down. About 20 minutes is when they say they are in a deep sleep.

Sound machine! If you don't have one, there is a really helpful free app called "baby sleep sounds". Babies sleep best with noise, it really helps my little guy out (and even helps calm him if he's fussy), also pacifiers help along with it

Ugh we are dealing with the same thing! Lately our LO has been waking up at 5 am wide awake and ready to play!! My husband and I have to take turns every morning because I just don't have it in me after getting up twice already to feed him in the night

Try making his bedtime an hour or two earlier for a few nights.  We give baby a bath before bed anywhere from 7:15-8:30 depending on the day and I've found that when he wakes up on the earlier side in the morning he's easier to put back down after a feeding. And if you make bedtime sooner and he's still up at 4:30 at least you got more sleep before then 🙂.
