Tranexamic and Mefanamic Tablets

I have been asked by my gynaecologist to take these tables every day of my period, because me periods are really intense, involving cramps and body ache and fainting and nausea. Is there anyone else who has taken these? Do they work? And I forgot to ask my doctor, but are there any side effects I should know about? Please help!
