Question for the New Yorkers!

I'm from a part of the country where (like most of the country) everyone has a car to take them wherever they need to go. And if you have babies, then you also have carseats.

My question is for the ppl who live in the city and don't have cars bc they take taxi's everywhere, how do you bring your kids in carseats? Are there baby friendly taxis? I just can't imagine that you would have to carry around a carseat while your out of the house.

I don't know why but this question just came to me and I can't figure it out!!
