I have flat/inverted nipples. My son is 1.5 weeks old. Every time I breast feed I have to start with a nipple Shield or he won't latch. After 2 minutes I can remove the Shield and he will latch. It's super painful like sharp burning and shooting pain. My nipple is creased and flat when he is finished. I read this nipple blanching is caused by a shallow latch which I'm thinking is caused because I'm inverted. He is now having trouble latching to even bottles. He clamps down and can't get a seal and ends up choking. I've tried 3 different brands of bottles. My nipples are now bleeding to much to attempt breast feeding again. I'm still able to pump. Any suggestions? I'm getting very discouraged and frustrated. I can't get in touch with a lactation consultant until Monday.
