How long before I should get help?

I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year and a half ago and we've been trying to get pregnant for about that long too, and no success on any of the medications (metformin, clomid). I don't have normal periods and never know when I ovulate cause I'll think I ovulate and I really don't. So I'm wondering how long before I should get some help. I'm only 24 so I feel like I'm not there yet to have to see specialists?  Or maybe they'd be able to help me more than a regular OB. Praying 2017 is our year for a baby 🙏

I would say the decision to go to the fertility doctor should depend on how urgently you want to have a baby and the impact your struggle is having on your mental health. If you are genuinely ok waiting another year or two then wait and try naturally. But if you are getting stressed over this and you would like to have a baby relatively soon then go ahead and make the appontment. The fertility doctor will provide more monitoring than the regular OB and also test your partner for any potential complications.
Although clomid works for many many people, it never worked for me. I along have pcos, but in my case I also do not naturally get a thick lining. Clomid is known to thin the uterine lining.

I would go back to the obgyn and see if they can offer anymore help. Maybe they can up your ovulation medicine for you. Since it's been over a year I would go now.  Good luck! 😊
