Induced because of age?

My doctor informed me a week ago that she'll likely induce me at 40 weeks if I don't go into natural labour by that point because I'm 37.  He said older women have a greater chance of late term stillbirths.

I have heard horror stories about inductions and experienced 1 personally. I REALLY don't want to be induced again. I have children already so I'm not starting fresh. All but 1 were natural unmedicated births. My labour started naturally for all of my children as well. I've never reached the 40 week marker for any of my other children.

Just wondering if this risk factor applies to women that have had children before.

Does anyone have anything position to say about inductions?
