Nerves got the best of me

So I had sex a week ago and I took a pregnancy test today that came out negative. The first response website said I could take it today but I'm just wondering how accurate this test is? My cycle is 26 days long and I start my period in 6 days. It was very clearly negative. What do you ladies think? I hate the waiting game 😖 I'm usually so careful about these things!
