Dark Brown blood and a lighter period?????

Hi ladies. So this is my fourth period with my copper IUD.

It's exceptionally light and very dark in colour. No cramps. Which is odd, as my past periods with the IUD have been heavy as hell with all the cramps of Satan.

Is this normal?

Also, this is totally naaaasty, but I got some real fleshy, membrane-like discharge with my first couple of periods. Anyone else get this?

This is normal. Dark blood is generally old or slow moving blood.
Very painful cramps are also very common with the copper IUD.

The fleshy discharge is normal, it's uterine lining which is always shed during a period.

I got my Mirena put in in early February and since then have had one period. But, my cramps were AWFUL! I mean, to the point of ending up in the fetal position in tears on the floor. However, it has been incredibly light with the same dark brown blood you've described. And, unlike my normal period which would last 3-4 days, this one has gone on for two weeks. I see the nurse practitioner who put it in me next week and I plan on asking her about it to see if this is all normal.

I totally have this right now on my BC (OrthoTriCyclen-Lo) (First time taking it again in like 5 months) and I was tripping out because of course everyone on the internet assumes any period questions is attributed to pregnancy (Which freaks me out even more) but now that y'all have the same thing it's making me feel a lot better about my weird dark brown mucusy period😂😭
