So this is my first baby and I have been doing a lot of reading about the birthing process and home vs hospital births in particular. Lately, I've been leaning more towards a home birth than a hospital birth. When people ask where I'm having my son, I tell them we haven't decided yet, which always prompts a question about what we are considering. When I tell people that I'd like to have a home birth, they always say things like "what about complications? Your baby could die!" Or "you'll hate it, you'll be thankful for the hospital staff!" And I'm really tired of it. I plan to ask my doctor about a home birth or at least a hospital that allows me to labor how I want. I just really hate hospitals and their entire vibe makes me want to curl up and die. I would much rather have a home water birth, it feels like it would be much more peaceful and comfortable.
