Would Joseph be shortened to Joey or Joe in your experience?

My brother is a Joseph, but he goes by Joe... except me, I call him Broseph... bahahahaha.

I think anything that sounds like it has Joe in it will generally be shortened to Joe. I have a Jovani and he's often called Jo or Jojo.

I know someone named Joseph and he likes to be called Joseph, not Joe or Joey.  But he still gets called Joe by some people. Even after they know his preference, it's easy to slip up. So he has to be that guy that's always correcting people or just deal with it. A lot of the time, he just chooses not to correct depending on the person, like with our bosses or clients. I don't know if it's possible to be named Joseph and not have your name shortened by people a lot of the time.

My husband who's name is Joseph goes by Joey or Joe!!! Professionally Joe, I call him Joey or JoJo and so does his family haha!

My fiances brothers name is Joseph , but everyone calls him joe. His mom gave all of her kids longer names that could be shortened. My fiancé is Alexander (alex) , his sister is Gwendolyn (Gwen), then Joseph (joe) and Christopher whose name doesn't actually get shortened lol but it would be Chris

Not if you don't shorten it yourself and keep on others if you hear them doing it. Just simply remind them that if that's what you wanted your son to be called it's what you would've named him. Our son is five and very good on correcting people who try to give him nicknames, say his name wrong, or try to shorten it.

It really depends on the person! My brother is Joseph, only goes by Joe. I had a friend who only went by Joey, never Joe. My brother doesn't look like a Joey to me and my friend doesn't seem adult enough to be "Joe" 😂

I know a full grown man/husband/daddy that only goes by Joseph.  I once had a 2-year old at my daycare named Joe.  And there is a younger boy at our church named Joe.
