Talk to other guys?

Question

My ex and decided that because of his depression he wasn't ready for a relationship. I assumed it was because of me but he said he wanted to take care of himself first then be with me again so we decided we'd be that that we would be together again when he was ready. He also says and I quote "I just want you, I'm just not ready for a relationship right now" but He said he doesn't want me talking to other guys like and he won't talk to other girls, but how am I suppose to know we will be together again? I wanna be with him but I also don't wanna rely on him because he might not even love me in the future .. should I talk to other guys or no?

If you two are agreeing to be together again, it's a good idea to establish boundaries from the jump. If you can him are together why do you need to talk to other guys?  He's agreeing not to talk to other girls. If you don't think he's he one for you then tell him you only want to be friends.

I really don't see what the problem is. All of us are taking a chance. No one knows the future. You just find someone you click with and pray for the best.

Relationships in general are based on the evitable, you don't have to talk to other guys as a form of moving on. Do things you like and find yourself too. If he decides to be with again great! If he doesn't, then you know you were equally fair in this and find someone worth your time.

He basically wants you to wait for him to explore options. He's gonna look for other females and if he doesn't find anything he wants or likes, then he'll come back to you.

It's not fair to yourself.

No ones saying go out and get a new boyfriend but don't sit around waiting for something that may never happen either.

If you want a change at being together again, no. If you do talk to other guys, there's a high chance that if he finds out then he might not want to get back with you. Its up to you obviously but if you want to make it work with him you need to respect his wishes! Or move on and talk to whoever you want x

I don't understand why you guys just can't be together. Going through depression is a time of support and not having to feel like the world is against him. I honestly would ask him why can't y'all stay together. If he fights you on that and insist on breaking up to "find himself but I want you to wait as well" it's not fair to you. Sounds a lot like having his cake and eating it too. If he really did love you he shouldn't fight you and accept that you want to help him get  better not only for himself but for you guys as a couple. Hopefully if he chooses to stay with you  route reassure him that you have his back and you support him in finding help so he wouldn't feel that ashamed feeling that comes with depression.

Do you believe he's not going to talk to other girls? I mean you can wait if you want to but what happens if you don't get back together? You have to decide what you really want and just tell him. I say date & when he's ready to be in a serious relationship see where you are. Don't put your life on hold for someone else unless that's what you really want to do

I think you would talk to other guys.  See what is out there and what others have to offer.  He is an ex for a reason.  If you get out there you will either realize that he's the one for you or that he's not the one..
