Do you have a favorite child or have you ever known you were the favorite child?

I'm the least favorite because I'm the black sheep of the family. My 4 siblings are all staunch republicans and agree with my mother about everything, so they get invited to stuff while I don't, because I always defend my beliefs and life choices when my mother or step dad start belittling them. I don't start the conversation because I honestly don't enjoy it. But it's been obvious my whole life that my little sister was more valued than me, which is why my mother never bought me clothes or shoes, bought me a shitty death trap of a car and pocketed the rest of the money ($1700) I had saved up for a car. When we were little and my sister would pester me and make fun of me for being different I would say something mean back to her and she'd go running to mom and they'd call me a jerk every time I spoke or just flat out ignore me for a day or so. My little sister is 17 and gets probably $750 a month spent on her for clothes, shoes, jewelry, and she drives a really nice car. My mother tried to kick me out at 13 because I "had too much going on for her" because I had basketball practice every day from 3-5. My sister plays 4 sports, academic team, band, FFA, basically everything you can do in high school and my mom never bats an eye and pays for it. She nearly killed me when she found a negative pregnancy test in my drawer and wouldn't believe me that I bought it for myself because my periods had been late lately (my PCOS was beginning to present itself) and just wanted to double check, while my sister goes out partying, gets pulled over for a DUI, run off with boys, beat the hell out of a girl just because, stole a 12 pack from a liquor store, borrowed her brand new Camaro without asking. Basically she can do anything she wants. I left home at 16 because I couldn't handle my mother anymore. I'm 20 now so I don't expect her to provide anything and my husband and I are entirely self sufficient but it's the fact that when I was under 18 she didn't.

I've been the favourite child for over three months now, as my sister moved away to Melbourne and my brother is really obnoxious at the moment.

I don't think my parents had a conscious favorite but my mom always treated my older sister like a delicate flower. My dad doesn't really have favorites but he's a pretty mellow guy. I was the loud mouth of the three girls so I got in trouble the most. Not for doing bad things, just for mouthing off. My mom and I were so much alike it wasn't funny and ever since she died my dad reminds me of that every time I'm around him. He says that's why we didn't always get along.

My brother and I have always been treated equally. Now, when I was a kid I was definitely the favorite, or at least babied a hell of a lot more than him. But we're both functioning well and making a way for ourselves.

I was the favourite grandchild growing up to one set of grandparents (note I said was 😂), my sister was the favourite for the other.
