I've been spotting since December 31. But today it's not yet for a waste of pad but it's already missing the panty liner. So should I mark it as the beginning?

You don't count it as day 1 until it's bright red bleeding and enough to need a pad/tampon

I dont know but I've always counted the day I spotted. I always start either that morning or that evening. If morning then it's light then two heavy and then off and on for the next two to three days. Same if I start in the evening it just pushed it a few hours. My calendar has always been right so far.
