food at 4 months

My baby boy is 4 months old. I breastfed for 3 months but he is an extremely hungry baby so was constantly feeding. He has been sleeping through the night since about 11 weeks but recently he's been waking at night starving. We tried giving him baby rice as well as formul but he doesn't seem to like it at all! I just wanted to know which foods I could give him, as he's only 4 months. As people have said to give him a tiny portion of food a few hours before he goes to sleep to see if he's more full. Has anyone tried this/any tips?!
