How do you take selfies?

I realise this may sound a bit dumb, but I'm 13 and my family is very protective and so on🙄 and I've never really taken a photo of myself or taken a 'selfie' before. Does anyone have any tips? You are ALL so amazing and ALL so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
