Zoloft?

I was just prescribed this yesterday, took my first pill yesterday evening and I've been extremely tired, like sleeping off and on all day. I'm also experiencing a really dry mouth and throat, so I'm drinking water constantly. Has anyone taken this antidepressant? If so, when do the side effects wear off?

What is your dose? I am a psych np and while I don't know your particular case, I often start patients at 25mg for a week or two. A lot of providers start at 50 so if that is your currrent dose, cutting in half for a little bit should lessen side effects (though just know it takes some time and usually dose being bumped up to really start noticing symptom improvement, so important to be patient). Most side effects with antidepressants WILL improve and not be problematic as your body just adjusts. If you are currently prescribed 25mg, you could also cut that in half to 12.5mg and do that for a week or so first. Most people take this in the morning as it usually is not sedating for most people (especially as used to it as that should improve too) but it can be taken at night instead (if currently taking in an and making you tired, switching to night might help). I've had some AMAZING success for people with Zoloft, biggest thing is giving it time and bumping up if needed :)

I was prescribed Zoloft when I was about 15 or so. I began taking it at night because it made me extremely tired. I also began to have more suicidal thoughts and more depressed after a month or so. So, I would be careful and definitely pay attention to how you feel. It's different for every person, though. I'm on Celexa now for anxiety and depression. Celexa is a wonderful medication. It doesn't make me tired or have any of those nasty side effects.

I was on it for a long time...never really struggled with any side effects, and it worked really well once my body adjusted to it. Now, Prozac on the other hand killed me and I didn't even stay on it for a full month because it just made me feel so much worse. If it's bearable, stick it out for 2-3 weeks and see the side effects subside, and if not, talk to your doctor because the dosage may be wrong or Zoloft just might not be the right medication for you.

Everyone reacts differently to medicine. I was on it about a year and it did wonders for me and absolutely no side effects. Took Celexa before Zoloft and it made me have the worst dreams ever constantly while sleeping. I always felt tired because I wasn't sleeping right.

I hate to tell you this but I'm going to be honest Zoloft made me feel like I was losing my mind literally. I had pains in my head that would not go away and I started hallucinating. I didn't feel normal until 4 months after stopping the medicine

I was on it and felt tired for the first week or so, but leveled out after that. It usually takes a while to be really effective- I think my dr said up to a month.

My mom is on it. It seems the side effects wear off when the medicine stops or its time for another dose. She functions pretty good on it
