After all the waiting and false labor I decided at 39 weeks to ask for an induction, I had a feeling that he was going to be a big baby, bigger than I would hope for someone as small as me. So my doctor agreed to induce me that night! I went home and gathered my bags and my husband and I checked into the hospital at 10pm, at 10:45 we checked my cervix and I was at 3cm dilated and 50% effaced, which I bad been at for 3 weeks already so we started fluids and a pitocen drip and began the wait. I was having plenty of contractions but couldn't feel any of them. I was checked frequently and wasn't having any dilation despite the amount of medication they gave me on. so at 9am my Dr came in and broke my water hoping to speed things up, and slowly it did. I was having some pains at this point but they were tolerable, when I got to 7cm I was advised to get the epidural and so I did, this was at about noon, I spend close to 4 hours pain free but I had such a dense epidural I literally could not move at all or even push if I needed to. We had to turn off the epidural and wait for my feeling to return and when it did I was ready to push! It was now 5pm I'm fully dilated and effaced! The doctor decided to go start paperwork and the nurse had me practice pushing then it turned into real pushing and for some strange reason the nurse walks away to take care of a few things so literally I'm in the stirrups pushing and it's just my husband and I!! He's watching the contractions on the monitor telling me when to push and doing the counts for me holding my feet giving me words of encouragement and the medical professionals are no where to be found lol the nurse comes back and she says "wow theirs the head! We better page the doctor!" And the doctor comes in on my last 3 pushes and delivers my sweet baby boy! Tyler Marshall Locklear born 1/5/2017 at 5:38 pm weighing 7lbs 14 oz 19 inches long. He's everything I could have hoped for and looks exactly like his daddy 💙💙
