Ban them, no. But change how accessible guns are. Yes 100% they need more restrictions on who can own a gun. They're too freely bought and then sold illegally and now they're circulating our population in the hands of the wrong people.
Should the US ban guns, or at least change the laws?

I'll start off by saying I'm Canadian. I saw in the news today that there was yet another shooting. This time in the airport in Florida. I feel like there are always shootings happening. In Canada it's such a rare occasion thankfully. I personally feel like something needs to change. What do you think?

Nope. Shootings happen. As sad as they are, no matter what laws and regulations get put in place, guns will fall into the hands of the irresponsible and those who can't have them. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to have access to my rights as a US citizen. What's faster, a cop in the phone or a gun in my hand? If someone's breaking in my house do you really think a phone is gonna get them out or make them change their mind?

shootings don't happen here (in New Zealand) and I'm pretty sure it's got everything to do with our strict gun control laws

i completely agree. Even if we higher the restrictions, the criminals are already breaking the law, I'm sure they don't mind getting a gun illegally. All that is going to do is make it harder for everyday people to defend themselves.

No. Because if guns were banned, then people would just find something else to kill with. GUNS DONT KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE.

guns don't magically pull their own trigger

I'd like to see all guns magically disappeared, but it's not realistic. I do think we should tighten our regulations considerably. The Florida incident was able to happen because both guns and bullets are currently allowed to be checked together. There's a regulation change we can make right away.

You guys are beyond messed up. I call for my rights for pickle carrying, shampoo carrying and bloody water carrying more than 500 ml

Yeah and the best part is that a legislator from that area jus trade it possible for people to carry guns in the baggage claim area too ππ» bet he feels like the worlds biggest asshole now. I feel like the ammunition shouldn't be allowed on the flight or they should figure something out for that.

It was luggage meant to be checked that he obviously still had access to in the airport itself.

I think the gun laws in America are very strong. That man was a military member with PTSD from the sounds of it. He legally possessed a gun. He had a right to conceal carry too from the sounds of it. The gun laws here are very strict. Most of the shootings here in America are done by people who have a gun ILLEGALLY. The gun laws in CA are so ridiculously strict and it is only hurting the people who get guns legally. Meth is illegal but the bad guys still get it and find a way to get it. Same with guns.

The majority of mass shootings like this one were done with legal weapons.

Compared with other developed countries, the gun laws here really aren't strict. They are quite lenient.

Not in favor of a blanket ban. In favor of background checks, waiting periods, gun safe requirements and safety courses. Sure there will people will skirt the law and get guns anyway, but if that is your logic, then why have any laws at all. After all, criminals will just break them, right?

I'm from TEXAS, I see so much and hear so much about how owning guns is and will forever be a constitutional right. First, the second amendment was written at a time when foreign militias were knocking down doors and killing those who rebelled. The American people needed ways to protect themselves, a right to bear arms. Today, I think every household should be allowed to have handguns and shot guns for protection. But military grade assault rifles?! Fuck. No. We have no kind of threats on u.s soil where we would need those guns for our protection. So many rednecks tell me about how they need that protection from our military. NEWS FLASH, if our military wanted us dead, no amount of rifles would save you. Second, our constitution and bill of rights were meant to be revised and edited. Some of our founding fathers have written that the constitution was written for the needs the American people had at that time. And that as needs change, so should the constitution. Just, ugh.

Thanks for your obviously condescending "black and scary" comment, since that's TOTALLY how I categorize them. Texas is a state that permits the possession of NFA weapons, which includes grenades, machine guns, silencers, and short barrel rifles. MILITARY GRADE weapons.

Military grade "assault rifle" ππ just because its "black and scary" doesn't make it military grade OR an assault rifle.
