Getting my implant taken out

So I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years about 8 months ago. 

I've been contemplating getting my birth control taken out for awhile now since I know I won't be sleeping with anyone for a long time. I personally have noticed my moods change all the time, I just can't find joy in things anymore. I just moved into my first apartment all by myself & I barely even feel happy about it.. I've noticed I feel like I'm in a daze I try & stay focused but I notice days go by where I don't fully feel "there". Sometimes I'll even get a wave of depression & I KNOW it's the implant. I've had my implant in for almost 3 years so I'll have to take it out this summer either way. Normally I'm not one to worry about things but I'm so nervous to get it taken out.. can anyone tell me if it's painful or how long it will take? Also I'd like to hear any of your thoughts on the IUD.
