insulin anyone?

Anyone here on insulin for gd? Just curious, I follow the meal plan and have zero issues during the day but my fastings are bad. I keep upping my insulin and it's still bad! I'm only 32 w 6d weeks and I've up'd it twice so I'm get super frustrated. Anyone else have this issue? I'm super scared trying to control it as much as possible and I'm scared what I'm doing to my baby. How many units is anyone using?

I've was diabetic prior to pregnancy. It was well controlled with metformin. I stated insulin at 16 weeks and an additional insulin at 32 weeks. Try to eat mostly protein especially at night, high fastings could be because your sugar is dropping to low when your sleeping. It rebounds then be high. It was recommended that I eat a protein based snack right before bed. Best of luck to you.

I feel your pain. I was diagnosed with GD very early and have been on two types of insulin  (slow acting and quick) I'm 32 weeks 3 days and ever since week 28 my doc and I have had to keep adjusting the dosage. I started out w 12 u at bed time and am up to 38 u of Humulin plus one metaformin. I eat nearly an identical bed time snack and breakfast and still the numbers fluctuate. It can be frustrating and emotional but my doc keeps reminding me this is normal and that the average is more important than individual spikes.  I email her weekly with my food log and blood sugar as well as have bi weekly apts and she has given me freedom to go up 2 units at a time if I see 3 days in a row of too high numbers.  Good luck and hang in there.
I've had GD for months and all scans are showing my little guy still healthy, active and growing. Last growth scan a week ago 55th percentile.

I have GD & my numbers during the day are great. My fastings are not, no matter what I do. I've tried everything my nutritionist and endocrinolgist have suggested, and it just didn't work. I got my insulin pen yesterday. Just for nights. I had a little meltdown about it yesterday, feeling disappointed and frustrated that I couldn't fix it on my own. But they worried my placenta was just working too hard. So, I'll do it for baby, even though it's hard on me. Good luck. It's really not so bad. I'm 35 weeks, and my baby is perfectly healthy & size is right on track. Just need to keep it that way!

I'm on humilin at night they started me at 4 units (I'm super tiny person) and that wasn't enough so we went to 5, then 6. I'm still waking up high. Anywhere from 95-102 in the mornings. So I'm upping it yet again.

Good luck!!! What dose do they have u starting at? I came to terms with it but am frustrated that it's not working! I need to fast forward the next 6 weeks lol.
