Anyone else waiting to have visiters?

My husband and I have decided that we want a little bit of a "babymoon" with just the three of us before having family visit. We live several states away and while we naturally want to include everyone (we both have rather large families), we want to wait a couple weeks to bond, recuperate, and selfishly enjoy our first baby for a bit. Anyone else in the same boat?

Totally! My husband and I feel the same way. Our families are quite far away so when they come to visit, it will be for a substantial amount of time. We want to start out by just trying to get the hang of things ourselves first, and will then welcome fam after maybe a couple weeks. Luckily our families support this and will accommodate whatever we need/want for this situation. You're not selfish at all!

I wish I could do that. My family is so overbearing (parents live 2 minutes away) so it's gonna be tricky to ask them to stay away. 🤔 we've agreed we're not even telling anyone when we go to the hospital. 🙊

I honestly don't want anyone there while I'm in labor or until the next day. I don't think it needs to be a family event and I'm sure I'll just want to relax. You're not alone!

All of our family lives within an hour and swarms the hospital when anyone has a baby. I told my husband I want at least a few hours before anyone comes. I'm hoping I have baby late at night so no one comes until the next day. I want the help once I'm home, honestly only from a select few people, but it's hard to limit who can and cannot come.

What about help? Do you think you'll need it? I was feeling the same way as you but then again, it's my first and I don't really know what I'm doing!

We always ask that people give us space the first few weeks. This will be my third delivery. With my first we allowed no visitors in he hospital, the next baby we allowed my sist e and parents who were watching my other child to visit briefly to bring him. We've since moved farther away and other than my mom watching our older two while I'm in the hospital, we like privacy the first two weeks at least. My husband is always off work those first few weeks and that time is precious for us. I've never had an guilt over it. It's my baby and a very delicate time that involves so much emotional and physically ability.

I live a plane ride away and have asked that my mom, sister, and MIL come for the first week and leave. I think I may need the support the first week but really want to figure out how to do it on my own!

I'm planning to just have my mom or sister first 6 weeks.  Inlaws can see us at hospital and then after 6 weeks.   Keeping it low stress.
