HCG levels in early pregnancy

So a friend of mine told me that when pregnant with a boy the Hcg levels are not as high earlier in the pregnancy, has anyone heard of this, or has this happen to anyone got negatives in the beginning found a later was in fact pregnant plus was having a boy?!?!??
