birth control issues??

Question

I've been on birth control for probably 6-8 months now. I was getting a period like normal and then out of nowhere, it just stopped and I started getting all these weird symptoms like nausea, headaches, breast pain, etc. Is that normal? At first, I was concerned I was pregnant but now I'm just not sure what's going on.

Change your birth control. Honestly, it took me years to realize that multiple birth control pills I've taken with estrogen was what was actually causing so many issues including severe breast pain, skin problems, extremely irregular periods and I was getting migraines which just kept getting worse as time went on. Id suggest trying something with less estrogen if possible, or even ask your doctor about progestin only pills.

My old dr told me if I was even three hours late taking my combination bc that I should use back up protection for the next 3-7 days because the hormone levels in my body had to remain constant and almost any slight break can make my cervical mucous thinner and therefore pregnancy is more likely. She said low dose birth control pills don't have a very long shelf life in the body to the point where by the time you're taking another pill, the hormones from the pill you took yesterday is already starting to wear off. Explains why I know so many people with kids that took their bc every single day but never the same time
