Am I wrong?

Question

Ok so I am having a c-section in a week and I told my family I didn't want anyone up there until evening because I would need time to rest and so would the baby. Now everyone is upset and their feelings have been hurt and now I feel like shit for even saying anything. Am I wrong to want this? Should I just let it go and let people just come a visit as soon as they want?

Lol no way are you wrong. I never understand why people think they have the right to be at the hospital at all. It's a privilege and it's an invitation that's extended, NOT a given thing. ESPECIALLY when it's friggen surgery or a baby that's involved!!!

Absolutely not!!!! If they have that big of a problem they can see the baby when you go home.... this is about baby and mama no one else!!!! Dad is there for support for baby and mama! Family is where YOU need them to be not where they want to be.

My in-laws outstayed their welcome at the hospital when I had my daughter. It really upset me and as a result I'm putting a ban on people visiting until I'm home (2/3 days after birth).

You're definitely not wrong! I'm in the same boat. Are c-section is scheduled the 28th. My family lives in another state my my husbands side is here in town. They all want to hang out while I'm in surgery to meet baby. They have known I'm having a c-section and I told my husband I want time to rest. So we have not told any family when are c-section is scheduled and due to reactions about us limiting visiting, we may not even tell anyone until we are home. I don't want visitors while I'm stuck in bed, swollen from surgery, with a bag of pee attached to me. Period! Also it's flu season so our visitors are restricted. Meaning my older children can't meet new baby either and I feel like it's important they meet her before anyone else. Stick to your guns. Do what's best for you.

You're having major surgery.  They can handle a few hours without terrorizing you and your newborn.

I guess I was just hoping that my family would understand. I had to have an emergency c-section with my daughter after 14 hours of labor. I was so out of it when it was all done that I didn't even remember if they brought her to see me. The next day it made me feel bad because I felt like I forced everyone to leave because I was so out of it and they really didn't get to see my daughter. I didn't want to repeat that again with my son.

Am I wrong?
