should i ask my doctor about cannabis?

EDIT: my question is not whether or not it is safe or your opinion on it, it is simply what should i say to my doctor/how should i bring it up, if at all. im 6w2d and the nausea is horrible. i have my first prenatal appointment in a couple of hours. i have my medical marijuana card and it was recently recreationally legalized here. i quit smoking as soon as i found out but im wondering about edibles now that my nausea is kicking in. do you think my doctor would get me in trouble for asking? should i not say anything? im a ftm so im not sure what to do. if they drug test me today at my first appointment it will show up positive for marijuana since i just quit a week or so ago. any HELPFUL advice is appreciated. dont even comment if ur gonna tell me im selfish/dumb for even considering it.  also, i would be using edibles that are LOW in thc and high in cbd, this means neither myself or the baby would be getting high.

I personally am not telling my doctor and quiting when my ms subsides and definitely quitting before the last trimester small amounts just to help get rid of nausea so I can eat

Doctors are obligated to be confidential, and I have never heard of someone losing a baby because of marijuana. Buy don't be scared to ask, worse case is they say they will prescribe you something for it. Good luck mama

To my knowledge when you smoke weed the amniotic fluid changes color and that's how they know to test the baby. There's still no proven fact on the effect on the baby. But yes they can have child services involved and if you happened to ask your doctor you might raise a red flag. Whatever you decide make sure it's what you want.

What state do you live in? 
I smoked everyday before I found out I was pregnant too. My nausea was horrible! Which I'm actually just on zofran for right now. I know numerous women that still smoked their first trimester for nausea and their babies are healthy. I don't think they drug test without your knowledge anywhere, my mom is a nurse in a hospital and she says they do test babies if they feel the mom used drugs during the pregnancy. But that'ssomethig that doesn't happen until after birth. I would maybe google stuff and you might find some info. About how they do things in your state. I wanted to ask too but I was too scared. Maybe ask hypothetically how they feel about it. Say someone suggested it to you and you don have a medical card so you were curious. But I definitely wouldn't be afraid of a drug test.

There's other things you can try for nausea. I had horrible all day sickness from 6 weeks until 22 weeks. I threw up multiple times daily. I tried sea bands and you can also take vitamin B. That should also help. Also lemon drops and ginger lemon tea. It's easy to make you just cut up fresh ginger and slice a lemon. Put it in a mug and pour boiling water in it. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Smoking weed or taking edibles will also have an effect on your unborn child. They're body is obviously super small so the effects on them will be way more intense than on you. I wouldn't do it

Depending on your state, some do test and child services can get involved. There is a potential for damage to your baby with anything that you take while pregnancy. I would say its not worth the risk. But then again, i dont know what medical necessity you have for it. I have known people who were on medical marijuana and their doctor told them they needed to be on something else before trying to conceive. If you are wanting it for nausea only, there are many other options.. Im pregnant with my 3rd and i stay throwing up the whole pregnancy...So i understand the nausea. I personally dont take anything for it... Nothing i was perscribed worked and the potential danger was too great. So i just deal with it.. There are natural alternatives like peppermint and ginger that help people. But you can always ask your doctor for something that will help. The scripts help most people and most moms only deal with nausea until about the 10-13 week mark. So at least its only 6ish weeks away :) i hope it subsides for you soon!

I don't think it would be a big deal. They also don't look for drugs in your urine, they look for other stuff. Maybe see what she says about the nausea before just asking. Personally I think that would be a perfect remedy for anything pregnancy related and I'm totally jealous it's legal in your state😩hope you feel better!💕
