Strabismus Surgery

I might be getting surgery for my strabismus a week before Easter. Has anyone every gotten this done before? I'm kinda freaking out, I'm terrified of needles and will have an IV in, and they will literally be cutting into the outside of my eye which I'm majorly freaked out over. I've had bifocals almost my whole life and my new doctor decided that if I don't do well without bifocals, she wants me to get surgery. I am a teenager so I have no choice in the matter, if she wants it I get it. She said mine will be kind of different than other strabismus surgeries because my glasses (I'm nearsighted) are in the negatives (-2.5 and -3) while most are in the positives. Has anyone had anything similar? Thanks for any advice, I'm freaking out over this!
