HSG ADVICE. ....DOES IT HURT??

Kerrie - married, 1 son, 2 step kids.TTC for 10+yr

Hi all

I am booked in to have a HSG tomorrow morning and just wondered if people could share their experiences, particularly in relation to how much pain you were in and how long for? I am already in severe pain (controlled with Dihydrocodeine and Morphine) for Endometriosis and PCOS and have heard the procedure is very painful so am rather concerned. Any advice welcome, thanks.

EDIT: Thanks to all those who replied. I had my HSG done this morning and all went fine. I am on Dihydrocodeine anyway for pain from endometriosis and PCOS so I took these as normal this morning (about an hour before the HSG). I found it to be quite a painless experience tbh. There was a little pressure when the balloon inflated and as the dye initially started but it wasn't anything like I had been expecting. I've had a little but of cramping across my stomach and back this evening but no where near what I experience during a normal period (which tends to have me in agony). The dye went up both tubes and immediately dispersed from the right ovary, it took awhile longer on the left but eventually did the same (I'm wondering whether there may have been an ever so slight blockage on the left) and my fingers are now tightly crossed that it may help us concieve. (I can but hope lol) Thanks again to all those who offered advice.
