too early for birthing ball?

I am 36 weeks today, doctor already told me have sex everyday to help me dialate more because I am at a 1 cm. 
But is it too early to break out the birthing ball and bounce on it? I am having HORRIBLE back pain and I heard that it helps with that. But I just didn't know if it was too early to start that or not.

I've been using mine since 14 weeks. I take concern with your doctor's advice to start getting you to dilate more at 36 weeks. Let your body do its thing on its schedule, not his.

If your dr is saying start with the sex I'd think you're good. I've been using my exercise ball to sit and stretch on (not really bouncing) since 20 weeks.  Doesnt hurt to ask them though if you're not sure.

I would think it is perfectly fine and safe! It's not going to force you into labor if your body isn't ready, just help things along.

I was using one as a chair at work starting at 25 weeks or so!

I don't think so . I am 36 weeks plus 3 days and I'm going to start as well.
