If you're on the mini-pill (progestin only birth control pill), is this happening to you?
Three years ago, I decided to go on birth control, but I have a blood-clotting disorder (Factor V Leiden Thrombophilia) that prevents me from taking extra estrogen. My doctor at the time put me on the mini pill, which is the same BC women use if they've just given birth. It's progestin-only whereas the regular BC is both progestin and estrogen.
My pill pack doesn't have a sugar pill week, so I went 2.5 years without a period. It also negatively affected my sex drive. When I got married last August, I decided to stop taking the pill, which is stupid considering we don't want kids for a while. It was in efforts to up my libido, and it worked. After a few months, I got my period regularly again, and just this past week, I decided to go back on the mini pill.
However, I'm scared I won't have a period again for as long as I'm taking it and I'm wondering if it's screwing up my fertility for when we actually want to have kids. I also don't want my drive to go back down.
Any suggestions? I'm not familiar with pills that are safe for me and I'm not interested in the patch, shot, or IUD.
