pregnancy symptoms??

Very new to this but this is our 3 month trying and today is 3 days po and I had LOTS of dark brown discharge. So much I wiped prob 5/6 times. The only way I can describe it was it looked JUST like a mucus plug (I have a 7 yr old)... is this just my body getting rid of extra period blood or could this be an early sign?
