Breastfeeding advice

My second child is due in two weeks. I did a combo of pump ">breastfeeding / pump ">pumping /supplementing with my first due to flat nipples, poor latch and low supply. I used a nipple shield, but even that didn't improve the situation. I'm hoping for a different experience this time around. For the moms that had success pump ">breastfeeding the first few days, did you feed on demand to try to increase your supply and then then try to "top it off" by pump ">pumping ? Breastfeeding how long on each side? Thanks!
