To test or not to test

Today AF's visit is officially 6 days late. I have a long cycle 35 to 37 days that was fairly consistent after my second miscarriage except for last month. Part of me wants to take a pregnancy test but I'm scared it will be negative. Right now I'm trying to be positive for 2017 (2016 was a sad year I lost my second pregnancy in a row and my father passed away). I know if I take a pregnancy test and see the negative I'll just become depressed again. Last cycle I was 2 weeks late so know this could be nothing. I took clomid in December but my progesterone level stated I didn't ovulate. Ugh do I test or wait another week?
