Did your Ob/Doctor deliver your baby or did a doctor on call deliver your baby?

My dr delivered my first. She was actually off the weekend I went into labor but had given me her personal cell number and told me to call her if I went into labor. I did and she came in to deliver him on her day off.

The only way we can guarantee our doctor will be delivering our baby is if we schedule it. I'm waiting on her to come naturally so it can be any of the doctors in her practice. I have done my research on all of them just in case.

I saw every one of the doctors in the practice during my pregnancy.  They did that so at least one of them would be on call when I went into labor.  I got lucky though and the doctor I saw the second half of my pregnancy was the one there to deliver my girl.  She was there all day Thursday, into Friday morning, and had to be back at the office for her appointments for the rest of her day.  She is a hard working lady.

I was seeing a midwife until my placenta abrupted at 32 weeks and I delivered with an on call OB. I was pretty surprised at how little it mattered to me when I was actually in that time and place who it was.

At our Hospital your ob comes in to deliver you the only time the on call doctor has to do it is if your doctor is on vacation.

Speaking about my firstborn three years ago (still waiting for #2 to arrive!), I labored at home all weekend and finally was admitted on a Sunday night...then ended up delivering via emergency c-section on Monday morning. My OB was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the surgery and I had absolutely no idea until YEARS later that there could have been a possibility that she personally may not have been there for the delivery if everything had happened on a different day or time. I'm super hopeful we get that lucky again regardless of whether this next birth ends up being VBAC or another c-section, because she is excellent.

I have a friend whose OB broke her thumb a few weeks prior to her due date and as such was unable to perform any deliveries. My mom's OB was on vacation when she went into labor with my brother. Seriously, childbirth is "like a box of chocolates," hahah

One of the doctors in the practice delivered my baby.. my doctor was on call the night I went in to labor but I didn't have my son until 1 pm so she was gone :/

With my oldest two it was a separate the midwives and doctors  that delivered just hospital based and not clinic based so I had never seen them before and they didn't know my history. This time the two OB's I see weekly at my high risk clinic are  the same  two that delivery   at the hospital  so it works out its kind of nice because they both know me & my issues really well.
