How to tell my boyfriend I'm depressed?
I'm planning on going to the doctor this week, probably to get a prescription for antidepressants. I've been suffering from a general low mood, lack of motivation, fatigue and being easily overwhelmed/anxious for a while now. I've had episodes of it before and it runs in my family.
My boyfriend and I are both university students. He's in engineering, has a full courseload and works very hard. I recently dropped out of the engineering program because it wasn't to my interests and am now in general studies. Because I have been overwhelmed lately I was planning on dropping a course so I only have 4 instead of 5 this semester. I just feel lazy doing this because he works so hard in his schooling. I'm worried he'll think I just don't want to do it or something, or that I'm not depressed because I'm usually cheery around him (he's one of the only things that make me happy). Or that I'll appear dumb for it. This is all probably ridiculous because he's a super supportive person and I honestly think he'll just want what's best for me. I just don't know how to bring it up. We've been together for 5 months.
