When to start using ovulation tests?

I've decided that this cycle I want to use ovulation tests. I always get ovulation pain but I recently learned that it's not telling you that you are ovulating NOW, it can come either before, during or after so I want to be sure...

So anyway, at what point during your cycle do you start testing?

You start right after your period ends ! :)

It you have regular 28day ish cycles than they recommend testing from cd10 until you get your surge.
Best time to test is early afternoon (around 2pm)

I temped for a cycle or two before doing opks so I knew around which part of my cycle I ovulated. I usually take opks a day or two before I'm expected to ovulate. So for instance, if you have 28 day cycles but aren't sure when exactly you might be ovulating within that, id probably start around cd12 or so. You still want to pay attention to other signals your body is giving you too, though! This cycle I actually took one earlier than that because I just had this feeling I was ovulating and low and behold - I was right!

Oh - also, I thought I'd specify that, like your ovulation pain you're talking about, if you get a positive opk you might not ovulate until a day or two later. The only way you can confirm the specific day you ovulated is by temping.
