In the microwave with food in.. 
I've been warming food up in plastic in the microwave for months

Stop microwaving in plastic! Even if it say it's microwave safe. Plastic is horrible and releases harmful toxins even when it's not being heated. Hence the big movement towards using glass water bottles / non-plastic reusable bottles. Put your food in a glass dish or other microwave safe dish if you want to heat it up.

As long as the containers are microwave safe nothing with happen unless you cook it too long. If it's not microwave safe it will melt your container.
